Programs
SATeLLITE Food PANTRY Program
The Satellite Food Pantry program is presently operational on multiple days each week, operating from our distribution centers. This initiative involves delivering food pantry donations to 11 Toronto Community Housing Communities, enabling each community to establish its own mini food banks. This program not only facilitates the provision of essential food items but also integrates community volunteers into leadership roles. Volunteers contribute to various tasks, including sorting, bagging, serving, driving, and outreach work, fostering a collaborative and community-driven approach to addressing food insecurity.
Food Banks
We currently have three Food Banks per week. Wednesdays at 673 Warden ave (1:00pm serve time). Saturday at 10 Glen Everest Rd (12:00pm serve time) Mondays at 400 McCowan Road E (1:00pm Serve time). Our Food Banks receive donations from Second Harvest, Daily Bread Food Bank, Little Caesars, Sai Dham Food Banks, Costco, Brick Street Bakery and many other suppliers.
Community Events and BBQ’s
Soso ministries will continue to collaborate with corporate and community partners to host community events for kids, youth and adults
Community Engagement Program
Our community engagement programs are centered on the development of our volunteers. These programs actively involve the community through initiatives like our Volunteer Impact Programs, including the Food Bank Distribution Centre’s and Clothing Bank programs
Community Hot Meal Programs
The Community Hot Meal Programs is an initiative dedicated to providing nutritious and health-focused hot meals to residents in various communities. While our hot meal program is currently on hold, our commitment to promoting health and nutrition remains steadfast. We look forward to resuming this valuable service to contribute to the well-being of the communities we serve.
Volunteer Impact Program (VIP)
The Volunteer Impact Program aims to identify marginalized residents and volunteers within Toronto Community Housing, providing them with training for leadership roles within their communities. Additionally, the program seeks to create employment opportunities for them within our network of business suppliers. Through this initiative, we aspire to empower individuals, foster community leadership, and facilitate pathways to meaningful employment.
